You may notice a change next time you login to the game, especially if you have a human male character!
After a lengthy development period new sprites for human male characters have been added to the server.
This means you can now tell the difference betwen human male and half-elf male characters, as previously they shared the same set of images.
Normally, creating images that are fully rotated in all 8 directions, with 3 frames of animation, together with 3 'actions' (standing, moving, attacking) would be a huge task, requiring 8 x 3 x 3 = 72 separate images to be individually hand-drawn one by one. However, the new images were developed using Blender 3D modelling software. A 3D model was created of the new human, together with a simple skeleton. Moving the skeleton allows the model to be placed into different different poses. The final step is to render the model in the 8 standard directions - with a bit of post processing to crop the images.
The advantage of all this is speed ... a single model can produce all 72 images (or 96 in the case of the new human male, as it has 4 frames of animation, not 3), and importantly, it is then easy to modify the model during the development

Are you using the mapmaker client? It is old and outdated. It has no truecolour support so cannot see the new graphics. If it's not this, try deleting you client/cache and client/srv_files folders (wherever they are on Win).
