QuickFix for Metaserver Issue
Posted by Unislash on Jul 06, 2008 - 02:25 AM
Still can't get your client to work due to the metaserver being down? Try this fix.
Save the following to your desktop and run it as you would your normal shortcut.
Right Click Me And Save As
If this fix spits out an error message, just ignore it, hit ok, and it should work. No harm was done. If it doesn't work, then this fix will not work for you out of the box.
This fix only works for Windows users (for now). Also, note that this fix will only work for those who installed their client to the default directory (C:\Program Files\Daimonin\Client). Please adjust accordingly.
Happy Playing! This fix is simply a batch file that goes to the default directory of the windows client installation and executes daimonin.exe with the "-server 1" parameter. It attempts to do the same thing with several possible directories, hence the error message sometimes.
Cheers!

ive had daimonin working for a while now, figure ill post what i did... if what smacky said made no sense to you this is it in simpler form, when you downloaded daimonin you saved it in a spot, most likely C:program files in a folder named daimonin (that's default) find that folder that sais daimonin, double click it, double click on client, and find daimonin_start, make a shortcut of this and then go to the shortcut, right click on it and go to properties in target it should say this"C:\Program Files\daimonin\client\daimonin_start.exe" click on target and erase the _start and then put a space after the qoutation mark at the end and type -server 1 that will make it look like this "C:\Program Files\daimonin\client\daimonin.exe" -server 1 then after you have done that, click apply, then ok, and double click on the shortcut you just modified, this will open daimonin( don't do anything ) it'll bring you to the log in screen for the daimonin main server... there you go, type in your user/pass and your in... hope this helps.

Unislash you wrote, Also, note that this fix will only work for those who installed their client to the default directory (C:\Program Files\Daimonin\Client). Please adjust accordingly. just wondering but id have to make a copy of Dai client to my program files or will it work from just do it from desktop ?

to answer your question fiendstar, i believe there should already be a daimonin folder in your program files (unless you physically changed where to install daimonin from) if there isn't, you could put the folder in program files and use that folder to log into the game with. but if you want to fix the problem without copying the folder, try zaurbocks method! im assuming its right, and to me it sounds correct anyway i hope this helps! ~missy

Just to make this even more clear, i'll post this up :).
This fix is only intended to help the uh... computer illiterate to get on to daimonin. The attempt here is to make it essentially automatic to get on. Now, this has its downsides of course... to make it automatic, we have to do some guesswork. That said, we are terribly sorry if it doesn't work. We tried to make it easy :).
Now, my comment of "Please adjust accordingly" was meant for the computer literate people because to be able to "adjust it accordingly," you'd have to know enough of what you're doing to just make this whole fix from scratch :).
Anyhoo, to "adjust accordingly," you should right click on the file you downloaded, then select "Edit". This will open the .bat file in notepad. First, you should delete one of the two chunks of code. Then, you should change the file path to match where *you* installed daimonin.
--------
Of course if you can do that, you should probably be able to easily do what Zaurbock posted. In a nutshell:
-Rightclick on existing shortcut (on desktop) and click properties
-After the quotes in the "Target" field, add a space, then a -server
-Hit ok
Cheers

Hm.... that's really weird. The only way that can stop working is if you have changed the directory of your daimonin client (and i doubt you did :p). Try taking a look at the bottom of my last post where i explain what Zaur said :). Remember, the shortcut you are editing is your original daimonin shortcut--not the one i provided :)

Tichi: ah, i forgot something in my synopsis of zaur's directions (which i presume you figured out). Your (everyone's) original shortcut points to the daimonin updater (which is named daimonin_start.exe), not the actual daimonin client (which is just named daimonin.exe). Therefore, you need to take out the "_start" bit in the target field. If you use the shortcut method (instead of my metaserver fix), your target field should look like: "C:\Program Files\daimonin\client\daimonin.exe" -server 1 But if it does, then my metaserver fix should work right out of the box :) Turboracer80: The information in the comments of these last two news articles should be enough to get you connected, using multiple methods. If you still can't figure it out, try going to the daimonin chat (and wait until someone is active, which may take a bit so be patient). Cheers
